Raphael Vineyard and Winery – a FAVORITE among favorites on Long Island, NY

Raphael Vineyard and Winery is a real favorite among wine aficionados from around the world. Situated as it is, high above the waters of Little Peconic bay in Peconic, New York, Raphael’s location in the Long Island wine region makes it ideal for some of the best wines in the world.  Raphael Vineyard and Winery

The Raphael Vineyard and Winery, located on the east end of Long Island on the North Fork, as it is, is blessed with the perfect climate for the grapes that are the source of its award winning wines.

Raphael wines receive top marks from wine enthusiasts.  Billed as a producer of new world wines at an old world vineyard, the estate produces Merlot, Riesling, Cabernet, Verdot and Chardonnay, as well as several exciting blends.  The Raphael label is one of the favorites of Long Island wines, and tops the list for any Long Island wine tour.

The vineyard and winery is a fabulous place to visit, even for those who are more interested in the scenery than anything else.  The 70 acre estate has been built, owned and operated by four generations of family, proving the value of tradition and family ties in the traditions of the elder European wine industry.

Everywhere you look across the grounds of Raphael Winery, you can’t help feeling almost like you’ve somehow landed on the shores of the Mediterranean, rather than Long Island Sound!  White stucco building with red tile roofs, fountains, vines, Italian sculpture and even the Italian flag (appropriately lower than the nearby American flag) make you feel almost like you really are visiting an old world winery!

At Raphael Vineyard and Winery, there is a focus on quality, not quantity, and that can be seen in the way they do everything.  All the grapes are hand harvested with care by a seasoned and dedicated wine making team.  Following the old world traditions, wild fermentation is practiced with very little fining or filtration, which produces a superior product with a character that reflects the sunlight, land and sea air of the East End of Long Island in a perfect balance of aroma and flavor.

This popular winery offers tours, tasting, dining and lodging.  It is necessary to make an appointment!  Check their website for more information.Raphael Vineyard and Winery Tasting
